Title says it all really, I have been soooo bad at updating my DeviantART this year and I feel really bad about that because not only did I used to love this site but it's also my cosplay portfolio and that's something really important so I should keep it updated.

I wanted to get this written before I make a start on my to do list for today (which includes lots of waistcoat related sewing things) because otherwise it just won't get done and also because writing used to help me order my thoughts. Hopefully it still will. This is gonna be a long one...

~*~

I have had a rather crazy few months; I finished college, the last few days were hell. Just, arguments with lecturers and crying on my way home every day. Awful. But my FMP went well and I passed with the second highest grade you can get (the highest the college had ever awarded to a BTEC student, not to brag or anything, jk, I'm totally bragging!). This was after MCM, which was super nice. I had a really great time at that and cosplaying Loras and Ariel was aaawesome!

I also attended London Film and Comic-con in July. That was kind of a fail but I still had a ton of fun.
My cosplay plans changed totally, from Ichabod Crane (Sleepy Hollow) and Simon Tam (Firefly) to Arwen's dream dress (the floaty lilac one from Two Towers) and Jessica Hamby (True Blood). The first day we couldn't even get inside the building so many people had turned up to see Moffat and Stan Lee so we went to Hyde Park instead and chilled out there. The Sunday, one of my contacts tore and I felt really gross in my cosplay but I got to meet Finn Jones who plays Loras Tyrell in Game of Thrones and he was such a babe. And really pretty and we joked about the mustache and eyepatch someone had drawn on the big photo of him above where he was signing.

I'm starting university in exactly a month and will be studying costume interpretation. I'm crazy stoked about that and I can't wait to apply the skills I learn to cosplay, hopefully there'll be a marked improvement in that as a little bonus to getting to study one of my greatest passion for three years.

I was originally going to be attending Alcon this year but that isn't happening anymore since I'll have nowhere to stay. I'm okay with this though as it means I've got more money and I don't have to stress about trains and extra cosplays.

Segueing neatly into the subject of cosplays I've got a couple planned for the end of the year and I'm very stressily trying to get them all done before I start university at the end of the month. I'll be cosplaying these lovely boys to October EXPO.

Louis de Pointe du Lac from The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice:
My love for this series was rekindled at the start of the year and I'm quite happily obsessed beyond all reckoning now. My boyfriend and I will be cosplaying Lestat and Louis on the Saturday of EXPO, joined by my little sister as Claudia. This is kind of a dream come true for me because I've wanted to cosplay Louis since I started cosplaying five years ago and to get to do it with a Lestat and Claudia is just, AHHH! There aren't words for how excited I am.

Simon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare (post City of Heavenly Fire):
Another book cosplay!
I'm going to be a walking spoiler on the Sunday of expo. I can't get into much detail about this cosplay because not everyone reading this will have finished the series but I can say that I'm so pleased to finally be properly cosplaying this bubba. I'll have an Alec and a Clary with me and we'll all be epic badasses.
Unfortunately I'm having some technical difficulties with making the cosplay at the moment. Hopefully they'll be resolved in enough time that I can still get it finished without pulling all nighters and crying into my fabric.

~*~

After expo I'll be focusing solely on university, with the exception of Hallowe'en (my costume is going to be a Victorian prostitute because reasons), so I won't be making any new cosplays until Christmas break when I'll be working on Gabrielle de Lioncourt, AKA Lestat's badass mother from The Vampire Chronicles.

If you guys would like more frequent updates from me, or you want a more varied look at my interests you can check out my cosplay Facebook and my Tumblr. Linked bellow.

You're here to see pictures, so I won't bore you with endless text (not that anyone bothers to read these things, right?).

I'm English, I've been cosplaying since Halloween 2009 and I think it's the best thing I ever decided to do. I love doing all the things you'd expect a geek like myself to love doing, reading, watching tv shows and movies and obviously conventions and cosplaying. Besides those things I adore Victorians, the 18th century, old creepy stuff and historical costume, also toadstools. I study costume interpretation at university.
